THE CITY
Amravati is the 2nd most populous metropolitan city of Vidarbha after Nagpur. It is the 6th most populous metropolitan area in the state of Maharashtra. It is the administrative headquarters of the Amravati district. It is also the headquarters of the “Amravati Division” which is one of the six divisions of the state. Amravati is famous for its educational culture and high literacy rate. Literacy rate of Amravati is 93 percent. Among the historical landmarks in the city are the temples of Ambadevi, Shri Krishna and Shri Venkateshwara. The city is famous for Hanuman Vyayam Prasarak Mandal, the place which is famous for its facility for different kinds of sports.
Being one of the most important city in educational aspects, the number of accommodating students is high which makes it easier to find resident places like hostels, PGs with quality food facilities. Star buses, city buses, auto-rickshaws are easily available for transport whereas the city has a good market too. Places like Bus Depot, Railway Station and Shopping Malls are near from the location of college.

PLACES OF INTEREST
The Ambadevi Temple is devoted to Goddess Ambadevi and is located in the heart of the city of Amravati at Gandhi Square. This ancient, spiritual temple finds its mention in ancient gazetteers and it is believed that Rukmini, daughter of King Bhishmak’s, a day before her marriage to Shishupal, visited this temple. Lord Krishna is said to have abducted her from here and married her thereafter.
Goddess Amba attracts innumerable devotees from all over the state who throng the temple during the festivals of Navratri and Dussehra. Along with the festive celebrations, a huge fair is organized on the temple grounds.
Chikhaldara is a hill station and a municipal council in Amravati district in the Indian state of Maharashtra.
Featured in the epic of the Mahabharata, this is the place where Bheema killed the villainous Keechaka in a herculean bout and then threw him into the valley. It thus came to be known as Keechakadara—Chikhaldara is its corruption.
The sole hill resort in the Vidarbha region, it is situated at an altitude of 1118 m with highest vairat point 1188m and has the added dimension of being the only coffee-growing area in Maharashtra. Chikhaldara has an annual rainfall of 154cm.
It abounds in wildlife, such as tigers, panthers, sloth bears, sambars, wild boar, and rarely seen wild dogs. Close by is the famous Melghat Tiger Project which has 82 tigers.
Temperatures vary from 39C in summer to 5C in winter. The best months to visit are from October to June.
The scenic beauty of Chikhaldara can be enjoyed from Hurricane Point, Prospect Point, and Devi Point. Other interesting excursions include Gavilgad and Narnala Fort, the Pandit Nehru Botanical Gardens, the Tribal Museum and the Semadoh Lake.
Melghat Tiger Reserve is located on southern offshoot of the Satpura Hill Range in Central India, called Gavilgarh hill in the Indian state of Maharashtra. The high ridge running east-west which has its highest point at Vairat (1178 m. above msl.), forms the southwestern boundary of the Reserve. It is a prime habitat of the tiger. The forest is tropical dry deciduous in nature, dominated by teak Tectona grandis. The Reserve is a catchment area for five major rivers viz. Khandu, Khapra, Sipna, Gadga and Dolar, all of which are tributaries of the river Tapti. The northeastern boundary of the Reserve is marked by the Tapti river. Melghat is the prime biodiversity repository of the state.
The sudden slope of Melghat form the part of catchment of river Purna.
The three major tributaries originating from Melghat region and draining into river Purna are Chandrabhaga, adnani and wan. Chikhaldara is located on high sudden platau at an altitude of 1100 ms. above MSL.
Wadali Talav is one of the two lakes in Amravati City, other lake is called Chatri Talao(Lake). Both the destinations are frequently visited by locals mostly in summer to chill out. Wadali Talao is famous for the pedal boats and motor boats, mostly controlled by the trained operator. This is the one of the best place to visit in Amravati. Besides the lake, there is small mini-forest and beautiful garden for kids to play around. It’s a weekend getaway (specially in the evenings) for the whole family
Hanuman Vyayam Prasarak Mandal popularly known as HVPM, this is a premier institute in India in physical training. It was set up by Mr Anant Vaidya and Mr Ambadas Vaidya around 1914. Earlier it was referred as Hanuman Akhada. Many political leaders and freedom fighters have visited HVPM. It is said that Shivaram Rajguru studied at HVPM. During his hideout Chandrashekhar Azad also stayed here for few days. The institution also has an engineering college in its campus run under the same management committee.
